Some other life

The moment arrives

Deliberately slow in the unfolding

Cautiously eluding the not to be spoken

Taking time and

Some distance to carry

Into immortality

Meanings

All said

A long while ago

Could see it in her eyes

She was...

Or was I just drowning in them

The unpredictability alive

Swollen in the throat

Where the words are stuck

If only the heart could get out

Not fumble

And hold quietly, patiently, her hands

Then those lips might part for mine to join

And the world would be as it should
